About us
Since 1 June 2009, the so-called zone fare has been valid throughout the entire area of the fare network. Since then, travellers no longer buy tickets from place to place, but rather the zones travelled through between and including the place of departure and destination. Within the zones, the ticket is valid on train and bus.
The OSTWIND fare network is one of the largest fare networks in Switzerland in terms of area. It offers a simple zone fare system for journeys in the March (part of the canton of Schwyz; zones 997, 998, 999) and in the cantons of St.Gallen, Thurgau, Appenzell Ausserrhoden and Appenzell Innerrhoden, Glarus, Schaffhausen and the Principality of Liechtenstein. With an OSTWIND ticket, you can travel with all public transport within the selected zones and validity period - wherever you want and as often as you want.
In the OSTWIND area, 29 transport companies with a route network of around 4,000 km are united under a common pricing system. The OSTWIND fare network is managed by an independent office.
