Connecting tickets

Connecting tickets can be used to extend the validity of a ticket. The area of validity of connecting tickets depends on the existing ticket.

Purchase connecting tickets in the OSTWIND area

If the basic ticket is an OSTWIND fare network ticket (including OSTWIND-VHB and OSTWIND-VVV combination tickets) with printed zone numbers, connecting tickets must be linked to an OSTWIND zone number contained in the fare network ticket. Connection tickets must be purchased in the same way as normal zone tickets. If you already have a zone printed on an existing ticket, you simply buy it from a departure point in the next zone.

Example: You have an OSTWIND season ticket for zones 210, 211, 212 and 214 and want to travel to Wil. You need a connecting ticket for zones 915 and 916.

Purchase connecting tickets from the Z-Pass to the OSTWIND (or vice versa)

A valid OSTWIND ticket that is geographically connected to a Z-Pass can be used together with the latter for a through trip, provided that the means of transport used has a scheduled stop within an OTV zone (8xx or 9xx) listed on the Z-Pass ticket.

Example 1: You have a Z-Pass travelcard Winterthur-Eschlikon (zones 120, 164, 917) and would like to travel by IC (direct train, without stop) from Winterthur to St.Gallen. To do so, you need a ticket from Winterthur to St.Gallen (the IC's last stop is Winterthur).

Example 2: You have a Z-Pass travelcard Winterthur-Wil (zones 120, 164, 915, 916, 917) and want to travel by IC (with stops in Wil, Uzwil, Flawil, Gossau) from Winterthur to St.Gallen. You need a ticket from Uzwil to St.Gallen (last stop of the IC is Wil).

Connecting tickets on trips across the borders of the network

For the missing route beyond the interconnected border, tickets for national or international transport must be purchased from the last scheduled stopping point within the area of validity of the network ticket.

Example: You have an OSTWIND travelcard for zones 210, 211, 212 and 214 and want to travel to Zurich. Your train stops in St.Gallen, Gossau and Wil. You need a train ticket from Gossau SG station.
